About The Position

The Certified Orthotics Fitter position involves hands-on patient clinical care, including fitting and applying orthoses. The role requires conducting physical assessments and orthotic requirement assessments, verifying prescriptions and documentation, and consulting with or referring patients to other healthcare professionals. The fitter will also make adjustments to accommodate individual anatomic contours and provide patient education and instruction. Compliance with practice management plans is essential to develop and document policies and procedures that ensure patient well-being, which includes adherence to applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations, following patient care guidelines and procedures, and maintaining a safe and professional environment for patient care. The position also involves comprehension of claims development and submission, including Brightree patient entry, insurance guidelines and verification, insurance prior authorization submissions to the billing department, and ICD 10 coding.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on patient clinical care (fitting and applying orthoses)
  • Conduct physical assessments and orthotic requirement assessments
  • Verify prescriptions and documentation
  • Consult with and/or refer to other healthcare professionals
  • Make adjustments to accommodate individual anatomic contours
  • Provide patient education and instruction
  • Ensure compliance with practice management plans
  • Adhere to applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Follow patient care guidelines and procedures
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment for patient care
  • Comprehend claims development and submission
  • Perform Brightree patient entry
  • Verify insurance guidelines
  • Submit insurance prior authorization to the billing department
  • Utilize ICD 10 coding
  • Manage spinal & cervical brace inventory for multiple hospitals
  • Manage Continuum facility tickets and clinical documentation for billing-ready entry
  • Manage Continuum physical inventory
  • Confirm all Spinal Program delivery tickets
  • Maintain good working relationships with team members
  • Educate team members on orthotic devices
  • Conduct quarterly in-services with team members and physicians
  • Coordinate care and services with Acute Inpatient Therapy department
  • Coordinate stock and fitting responsibilities with Central Supply Services and Excel
  • Consult with ordering physicians
  • Manage Spinal Program on-call scheduling for multiple hospitals
  • Manage facility billing for all unbillable orthotic services
