Performs evaluation and treatment of adult and pediatric patients with disorders of the visual system, with an emphasis on binocular vision and eye movement disorders. Performs strabismus evaluation including motor testing, evaluation of Fresnel and spectacle prisms, convergence exercises, and orthoptic treatment. Responsibilities also include infant and pediatric vision assessment, retinoscopy, and refraction. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. Requirements

  • Required - Bachelor's Degree Ophthalmologic care
  • Required - Certified Orthoptist - American Orthoptic Council
  • Knowledge of binocular vision and eye movement disorders
  • Demonstrates ability to perform infant and pediatric vision assessments
  • Demonstrates ability to perform manifest and cycloplegic refractions in children
  • Knowledge of various testing including: Visual Acuity testing, Lensometry, Retinoscopy Refraction, Color Vision, Pupil and Slit Lamp Biomicroscopy, Tonometry, and Visual Fields

  • Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Orthoptics
  • Preferred - No prior work experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient screening examinations.
  • Provides patient testing and assessment.
  • Provides Orthoptic treatment.
