About The Position

The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant provides assistance to the physician with patient care in accordance with established methods and techniques while conforming to recognized standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Paraoptometric Assistant (CPOA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Caregiver document.
  • Compile all chart and background information at the beginning of the day for the physician.
  • Perform ocular screening examinations, auto refraction, K. Readings, visual acuity testing, and other required tests using various standardized means to prepare the physician with the information needed for the care of Ophthalmic patients.
  • Maintain and repair all equipment in a timely manner.
  • Read glasses on lensometer.
  • Assist in surgical procedures with the ability to prepare the patients for the physician's examinations.
  • Stock and maintain inventory control of medicines and supplies. Clean and stock shared work areas and exam rooms.
