You will assist with direct patient care as directed, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and at ease throughout their appointment and exam. In this role, your ability to facilitate a welcoming environment can make a difference in the lives of Cleveland Clinic patients every day. A caregiver in this position works 7:30am to 4:30am or 10:00am to 6:30pm.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Successful completion of the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant written exam
  • Recent graduate of an Ophthalmic Technology Program
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO)
  • One year of experience providing direct care under the supervision of an Ophthalmologist
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
  • May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
  • Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and prepare patients for examination or treatment.
  • Perform routine screening tests.
  • Document patient information in the patient medical record.
  • Perform stocking, maintenance and other related duties as assigned, including maintaining exam rooms, equipment and supplies.
