About The Position

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - West Campus Rehab - Part Time - Days (28 hours weekly) Position Purpose: This individual assists the occupational therapists in the preparation of patients for treatment, provides certain occupational therapy procedures to the patient, maintains equipment in a clean and aesthetic manner and is responsible for written/verbal communications between the Rehab department and our customers.

Requirements

• Graduate of an American Occupational Therapy Association Occupational Therapy Assistant Education Program required.
• Licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the State of Iowa required.
• Must maintain a good interest in helping others, be flexible, creative, and establish good relationships with patients and staff.
• Must be able to communicate ideas and observations clearly.
• Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.
• Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assists OT in performing tests, evaluations, and developing treatment plans and techniques to implement.
• Treats patients in accordance with established treatment plan, in individual or group setting.
• Communicates with patient, family and other multidisciplinary team members and service providers.
• Monitors patients’ response to intervention and communicates observations of patients’ response to treatment to OT.
• Completes required documentation on patients and maintains other department records, in accordance with departmental and health center policies and procedures.
• Promotes efficient utilization of resources/supplies, ensures charges are appropriate based on services provided.
