About The Position

A Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides coordinated occupational therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy assistant with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current Texas State License to practice occupational therapy.
  • Two-year experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies.
  • Proof of current CPR and Hepatitis profile
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Organized and resourceful self-starter, strong ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent observation, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required.
  • Works in a health care facility or patients' residence in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.
  • Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho- social needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Frequent driving in occasional extreme weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds
  • Pushing, pulling up to 100 pounds
  • Frequent squatting
  • Frequent sitting, standing, stooping and walking

Responsibilities

  • Performs services planned, delegated and supervised by the OT.
  • Participation in coordination of patient care.
  • Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to participate in teaching the patient and family.
  • Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
  • Applies concepts of infection control and universal precautions in coordinating/performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
  • Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients.
  • Meets mandatory continuing education requirements; participates in in-service programs
  • Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
  • Acknowledge my obligation and agreement to fulfill those duties and responsibilities as set forth in the Code of Conduct and Compliance Policies and to be bound by these standards.
  • Certify that throughout my association with EH I will comply with the terms of the Code of Conduct and Compliance Policies.
  • Understand that violations of the Code of Conduct and Compliance Policies may lead to disciplinary action, including termination of employment.
