About The Position

Together, these facilities offer patients the best rehab and nursing care they can obtain after their hospital discharge. The role of the Food Service Worker is to provide our residents with all of their meals and/or snacks in a sanitary and safe manner adhering to all policies and procedures of the facility while focusing on customer service and satisfaction. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, COTA will establish and perform treatment programs for assigned residents. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, COTA will upgrade goods as appropriate and physician order recommendations. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, COTA will enter billing information in an accurate and timely manner. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, COTA will report resident progress in meetings, i.e. Medicare A Meetings. Consult with other members of rehabilitation team to coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities. Provide residents with equipment as appropriate & inform Social Services of equipment needs at discharge. Requisitions supplies and equipment. Design and construct special equipment for individuals and suggest adaptation of individual’s living environment. Lay out materials for individual’s use and return equipment to appropriate place. Conduct training programs for other workers/families in occupational therapy techniques and objectives for resident care. Chart notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the therapy provided to the residents as well as the resident’s response to the therapy. Perform routine documentation as required and in accordance with our established charting and documentation policies and procedures. Sign and date all entries made in resident’s medical record. Follow all facility policies and procedures. Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant is trained and licensed, meeting the qualifications set forth by the NYS Board of Education and the NYS Rules and Regulation requirements.
  • Graduate of an approved Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.
  • Training certification by the AOTCB and current licensure in good standing with the NYS Board of Education.
  • Candidate will have the physical ability to perform job related duties, which may require lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, pulling and pushing up to 50lbs or more as needed.
  • Work well under pressure & willing to work harmoniously with all staff
  • Sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and handicapped
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be able to communicate well verbally with residents, families and staff
  • Treat residents and fellow staff with respect, dignity, and compassion

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year experience in the skilled nursing facility setting, preferred.
