About The Position

Westborough Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (WBHH) provides psychiatric stabilization and dual diagnosis treatments for Children, Special Needs and Adult populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our goal is to ensure patients and their loved ones feel comfortable and are well informed regarding treatment options. We are conveniently located in Westborough near the intersection of Route 495 and Route 9. The hospital operates 24/7 with multiple shifts available. Job Summary: The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant will serve as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, to provide therapeutic recreational and activity services to all patient populations including Special Needs, Adult, Child and Adolescent. Has the ability to use a person-centered, trauma-informed approach that acknowledges the potential for recovery and wellness for every person we serve. Shift details: Full-time 40 hours per week Schedule: Monday - Friday & 2 weekend days a month with day off during the week

Requirements

Associates degree in occupational therapy from an AOTA-accredited program.
Current licensure by the Board of Allied Health Professionals, Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Current Certification in BLS of Adult, Child and Infant.
2 - 3years of inpatient/outpatient psychiatric/substance use experience (willing to train individuals with a passion to learn)
Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and their effects on functional capacity
Knowledge of therapeutic use of multimedia and expressive arts modalities to support stabilization and rehabilitation
Understanding of age, socioeconomic, and cultural factors affecting patients’ interest and ability to participate in rehabilitation programs
Ability to effectively redirect patients and set clear, timely limits on inappropriate behavior

Nice To Haves

American Occupational Therapy Association membership preferred.
IRF and/or LTACH experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Develops and conducts group therapy
Provides assessment to identify patient needs
Documents pertinent clinical data following group
Provides individual assessment to patients as needed and makes recommendations to treatment team regarding needs for specialized rehab services or for planning for discharge and aftercare support.
Participates in maintaining inventory of supplies
Assists in maintaining unit arts supplies and reports issues to the Director.
Assists as necessary for projects, reports, and other duties as assigned by supervisor
