Requirements

  • Licensed OT in the state the facility is located in
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A passion for helping others thrive!
  • Graduate of an accredited education course in occupational therapy.
  • Meets state and federal requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Long term care and EMR experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for occupational therapy care rendered by the COTA for all residents for whom he or she is the therapist of record.
  • Responsible for service and operational excellence of all assigned activities to ensure the delivery of quality services and/or outcomes required to meet or exceed the expectations of those utilizing or impacted by the rehab dept.
  • Displays thorough knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in the practice of their discipline; Thorough knowledge of all payer source documentation and payment requirements.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate application of precautions and contraindications to occupational therapy treatment procedures and modalities.
  • Maintains proper documentation.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Participates in continuous survey readiness department and facility activities.
  • Demonstrate professional attitude and appearance, including adherence to any applicable dress codes.
  • Maintains regular attendance as well as a clean, safe and professional department.
  • Participates in census building and marketing activities.
  • Participates in clinical program development and implementation.
  • Participates in quality and process improvement activities in the department as outlined by the manager/director.
  • Maintains and applies current skills and knowledge through continuing education including but not limited to maintaining knowledge of Medicare Policies and Regulations, LCDs, and NCDs.
  • Carries out responsibilities of position in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Directly supervises COTA staff.
  • Indirectly supervises other therapy and facility staff.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company and facility policies, practices, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Indirect supervisor of nurse, program, activity and other assistants as their job functions relate to resident care.
  • Must consistently use discretion and independent judgment.
