Requirements

Licensed OT in the state the facility is located in
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A passion for helping others thrive!
Graduate of an accredited education course in occupational therapy.
Meets state and federal requirements.

Nice To Haves

Long term care and EMR experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Primarily responsible for occupational therapy care rendered by the COTA for all residents for whom he or she is the therapist of record.
Responsible for service and operational excellence of all assigned activities to ensure the delivery of quality services and/or outcomes required to meet or exceed the expectations of those utilizing or impacted by the rehab dept.
Displays thorough knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in the practice of their discipline; Thorough knowledge of all payer source documentation and payment requirements.
Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate application of precautions and contraindications to occupational therapy treatment procedures and modalities.
Maintains proper documentation.
Communicates effectively.
Participates in continuous survey readiness department and facility activities.
Demonstrate professional attitude and appearance, including adherence to any applicable dress codes.
Maintains regular attendance as well as a clean, safe and professional department.
Participates in census building and marketing activities.
Participates in clinical program development and implementation.
Participates in quality and process improvement activities in the department as outlined by the manager/director.
Maintains and applies current skills and knowledge through continuing education including but not limited to maintaining knowledge of Medicare Policies and Regulations, LCDs, and NCDs.
Carries out responsibilities of position in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company philosophy, policies and procedures.
Directly supervises COTA staff.
Indirectly supervises other therapy and facility staff.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company and facility policies, practices, procedures, and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Indirect supervisor of nurse, program, activity and other assistants as their job functions relate to resident care.
Must consistently use discretion and independent judgment.
