About The Position

Our Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides in-home and in-center therapy for older adults on an ongoing basis. The goal is to help these individuals regain or maintain their abilities to remain independent with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL’s), improve range of motion, and strength, following interventions established by a treatment plan from the Occupational Therapist (OT/L). This is a Monday-Friday daylight position, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Mileage reimbursement is provided at the federal rate. Community LIFE is a program dedicated to all-inclusive care for the elderly, aiming to empower older adults to stay in their homes while preserving their dignity, independence, and quality of life. The program brings together experts in geriatric medicine and care to work as a team in specialized Day Centers, ensuring older adults enjoy the highest possible quality of life. Our professionals are committed to supporting seniors' independence in their homes through a wide range of services, including medical care, social services, meals, activities, and transportation.

Requirements

  • Successful OTA/L program completion approved by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
  • Minimum of one year working with the frail or elder population
  • Current OTA licensure issued by the state of PA
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Able to demonstrate clinical competency with the geriatric population
  • Initiative and resourcefulness
  • Discretion, tact, patience, and good judgment
  • Empathetic and compassionate attitude in caring for the elderly
  • Ability to understand & carry out non-technical verbal & written directions, record messages, & keep records
  • Ability to get along well with others and gain the cooperation of participants
  • Physical and emotional ability to carry out assigned tasks
  • Routine work involving the personal care and program activities of participants
  • Neat appearance
  • Proven record of excellent attendance
  • Good organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-home and in-center therapy for older adults on an ongoing basis
  • Help older adults regain or maintain their abilities to remain independent with ADL’s and IADL’s
  • Assist older adults with range of motion and strength improvement
  • Implement interventions established by a treatment plan from the OT/L
