Requirements
- Associate Degree in Occupational Therapists Assistant
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Licensure from the State of New Mexico
- BLS REQUIRED AT TIME OF HIRE
Responsibilities
- A Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a Physical Therapist to apply a range of therapeutic interventions aimed at rehabilitating physical, psycho-social, and developmental disorders.
- This role requires detailed knowledge of occupational therapy practices, including understanding not only how tasks are performed but also why they are necessary, with the ability to interpret relevant data.
- In addition, the assistant must have a basic understanding of the rules and regulations specific to the care setting to ensure safe and effective patient support.
- Under the supervision of an Physical Therapist, applies a variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of physical, psycho-social, and developmental disorders.
- Requires detailed knowledge of occupational therapy in terms of what and how work is to be done as well as why it is done, this level includes interpretation of data.
- Basic understanding of the rules and regulations of the specific setting
