About The Position

A COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) in a Skilled Nursing Facility works under an Occupational Therapist to help residents regain or maintain independence in daily activities. They carry out treatment plans using therapeutic exercises and activities, assist with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and mobility, and carefully document patient progress for the OTR to review. COTAs also educate patients and families on home exercises and adaptive equipment, collaborate with the care team to coordinate discharge planning, and maintain safe treatment environments. In SNFs, patients usually stay short-term for rehab after illness, injury, or surgery, and COTAs play a key role in helping them return to their highest functional level.
