About The Position

MedStar Health is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide exceptional patient care at Union Memorial Hospital. The role involves working as part of a patient-centered care team, delivering direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include assisting patients with daily living activities, performing medical procedures, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Requirements

• Completion of an approved nursing assistant certification program.
• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from the relevant authority.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience as a certified nursing assistant in acute care or long-term care preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification preferred.
• General health care experience in acute care or long-term care settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal hygiene.
• Collects specimens and performs venipuncture/phlebotomy and EKGs.
• Records and documents patient's vital signs and other pertinent data.
• Performs routine treatments and activities as per hospital policy.
• Maintains patient comfort, privacy, confidentiality, and dignity.
• Observes patients and prepares them for examinations by providers.
• Assists providers and registered nurses during patient examinations and procedures.
• Rounds on assigned patients and participates in patient/family teaching.
• Reports changes in patient conditions to the registered nurse and care team.
• Maintains cleanliness and safety of patient rooms and environment.
• Transports and escorts patients during discharges and medical appointments.
• Completes errands such as delivering specimens and stocking supplies.
