About The Position

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant assumes responsibility for the collection of data related to patient status, performance of basic nursing procedures, on-going collection and documentation of patient data, assistance with treatments and procedures, and assistance with maintenance of patient care equipment. This role involves assisting patients with activities of daily living and hygiene, turning and repositioning patients alone or with assistance, transporting patients and assisting with walking, and assisting adult/pediatric patients with toileting needs, including emptying established colostomy bags and urinary catheter removal. The CNA also assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated, removes and reapplies anti-emboli hose or compression devices, and assists with the admission of patients to the unit by preparing the room, greeting, and orienting the patient and/or family to the unit (bed, call light, phone, TV). Other essential functions include taking and recording vital signs and repeating questionable values, preparing patients for meals and assisting in feeding and providing snacks and supplements, collecting urine, stool, and sputum specimens, delivering specimens to the appropriate department as requested, completing documentation in EMR in an accurate and timely manner, maintaining cleanliness and order of the hospital room, utility room, diet kitchen, hallways, and alcoves, disposing of excess linen and keeping linen emptied, performing point of care testing as trained and delegated by an RN, reporting lab values to an RN, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • No previous experience required.
