Medical Surgical – day and night shifts Work in environments where patients receive intense interventions, therapies, and complex care. Must offer humane care for their patients. Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal, medical and financial information per HIPAA. Perform patient care duties within practice scope, including those associated with patient admission, transfer, and discharge, as assigned and in conformance with recognized standards, techniques and procedures. Contribute to patient nursing assignments, care plans and discharge planning through accurate and timely collection and record of pertinent data and through report of such data to RN’s and LPN’s responsible for such patients Answer patient calls and alarms, and attend to patient needs within practice scope Assist with patient movement, turning, and repositioning, and transfers to chair or wheelchair Accurately document patient information and patient care provided in the electronic medical record

Requirements

  • Must possess C.N.A. (Level 2 preferred) Acute Care endorsement through Oregon State Board of Nursing
  • Requires BLS
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be highly motivated.
  • Able to perform duties without direct supervision:
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age specific behaviors when caring for patients.
  • Strong communication and human relationship skills:
  • Flexible and willing to accept a variety of patient care assignments:
  • Self-directed and able to exercise judgement in prioritizing, accuracy and promptness in completion of duties.
  • Knowledge of limitations regarding scope of practice:
  • Via basic and advanced skills checklist work well with a team and have the ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to perform duties.
  • Ability to lift, pull and turn a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted and over 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Bend, stretch and reach to accomplish duties.

  • Preference may be given to candidates possessing recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Offer humane care for their patients.

  • Answer patient calls and alarms, and attend to patient needs within practice scope
  • Assist with patient movement, turning, and repositioning, and transfers to chair or wheelchair
  • Accurately document patient information and patient care provided in the electronic medical record
  • Completes personal care on each patient as assigned or directed by plan of care and policies & procedures without continual direct supervision.
  • Observes and reports any patient conditions to the RN (i.e. abnormal vital signs, abnormal responses to care, change in patient behavior, patient complaints, etc.)
  • Accurately performs skills per policy and procedure.
  • Completes only those skills within CNA scope of practice for which competency has been demonstrated.
