About The Position

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists patients with activities of daily living to all patients and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment under the direction of and supervision of the RN/LPN in charge of the team or unit. Scheduled workdays and times could vary and will include weekends and holidays. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supports and promotes an environment conducive with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the hospital. Provide care to surgical patients and patients for therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Assist patient with changing into surgical attire .and any pre-op preps. Take and record vital signs as applicable in an accurate and concise method. Notifies the nurse of changes in patient's condition in a timely and appropriate manner. Assist patients with nourishment, activity, elimination, and cleanliness in a manner conducive to the patient'sfort and safety. Keep written notes of specific assignments and record pertinent information about the patients. Promptly answers call lights. Transports patients as needed though the facility (EXAMPLE: escort patient/family to Ambulatory room, assist with transporting patient to and from surgery) Maintains confidentiality of all patients, hospital, or physician related information Assists with daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of equipment, work, and storage areas. Keeps patient rooms neat and clean. Maintain orderly condition of assigned work area. Is kledgeable of general hospital policies and procedures. Assist with clerical needs of department. Other duties many be assigned and are subject to change with or without prior notice. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Completes assigned daily duties. Accepts reassignment to other units if necessary. Follows expected work practices. Displays thoroughness and accuracy of work. Works in a safe manner, including reporting unsafe equipment or environment. Wellanized, accepts assignments willingly and aplishes them quickly. Anticipates problems and suggests solutions. s with not specifically assigned duties. Works steadily and always keeps busy. Maintain kledge and skills necessary tomunicate and interact with patients, visitors, and staff in the following age groups: Infant, Pediatric/adolescent, Adult, & Geriatric Ability to work well with a diverse work team. Ability to work under pressure with time constraints. Ability to concentrate. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good mental health and emotional maturity Good personal grooming and hygiene Recognizes and respects the individual emotional, social, and cultural needs of patients, including their religious beliefs. Always preserves the dignity and respect of all Patients. Displays kledge of sterile and non-sterile supplies, equipment, and procedures Demonstrates kledge of and practices Universal Precautions Willingness to perform a variety of minimal repetitive tasks that may involve unpleasant conditions and maintain patience and tact. Possession of a genuine interest and concern for geriatric and disabled persons (The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write andmunicate in English.
  • Graduation from high school or GED is required.
  • Must have the ability to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Successfulpletion of a vocational program for nursing assistants including the State of Illinois Competency Exam orpletion of required portion of a RN program
  • CPR certification
  • Inpliance with Criminal Background Check requirements
  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking
  • Required to climb, balance, stoop, and kneel.
  • Required to use arms, hands, and fingers for repetitive grasping, pulling, and pushing and feeling.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
