About The Position

Important Note: This program is designed for individuals who are not currently certified as CNAs. Applicants must have prior caregiving experience to be considered. The primary purpose of your job position is to acquire the knowledge, skills, and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant by participation in the WisCaregivers program consisting of classroom instructions, clinical practice, and on-the-job, supervised training, and to perform certain services for which you have been trained and found to be competent during the training period.

Requirements

Applicants must have prior caregiving experience to be considered.
Must have the ability to interact diplomatically and effectively with staff, residents, family members, visitors and volunteers.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with residents and staff.
Must have the ability to read, write and communicate using the English language.
Must have the ability to spend 90% of the work shift moving about the work area.
Must have the physical strength to move or assist residents following the plan of care.
Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 35 pounds.
Must follow Nursing Department Dress Code at all times.

Responsibilities

Perform only those nursing care procedures that you have been trained to do.
Ensure that the resident's room is ready for receiving the resident (i.e., bed made, name tags up, admission kit available, etc.).
Greet residents and escort them to their room.
Introduce resident to his/her roommate, if any, and other residents and personnel as appropriate.
Assist residents with packing their personal possessions when they are being transferred to a new room, or when being discharged.
Transport residents to new rooms or to the receiving area.
Participate in and receive the nursing report as instructed.
Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
Weigh and measure residents as instructed.
Measure and record temperatures, pulses, and respirations (TPRs) of residents, as instructed.
Answer resident calls promptly.
Ensure that residents who are unable to call for help are checked frequently.
Check residents routinely to ensure that their personal care needs are being met.
Assist residents with identifying food arrangements (i.e., informing resident with sight problem of foods that are on his/her tray, where it is located, if it is hot/cold, etc.).
Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents.
Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
Actively participates in or initiates problem solving for job-related issues.
Works positively with coworkers, sharing job responsibilities when assignments are completed and in times of shortage and special projects.
