About The Position

Certified Nursing Assistant - Med/Surg Acute Hospital Full Time Night Shift 12 Salary Range: $18.09 - $23.15 Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity. Position Summary: This position reports to the nurse in charge of their group, Charge Nurse and department director. Responsible for services related to dietary, environmental services, transportation, materials management and guest relations. Performs a wide variety of environmental, patient care and clerical functions on the patient care unit. Participates in team activities and quality improvement. Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the hospital standard of care. Supports other nursing units by floating when needed after appropriate orientation. Treats patients, families, visitors, peers and physicians with consideration and respect. Communicates concerns appropriately using the established chain of command. Works well under stress or with tight deadlines. Must work well with supervisors, co-workers, patients/residents, family members and visitors. District Responsibility Maintains all principles of confidentiality according to District policy and as required by State and Federal agencies. Demonstrate Respect, Professionalism and Courtesy to all patients, visitors, other providers and coworkers, as delineated in the LVMC “Commitment to Care”. Constantly use C-I-CARE principles when communicating with others. Follows guidelines and practices identified in the Employee Handbook. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities within the unit. Completes hospital-wide skills criteria annually. Complies with annual PPD testing. Position Duties/Responsibilities: Demonstrates proficiency in all required areas for patients in the Medical/Surgical Department after appropriate orientation to the area. Maintains ability to perform competencies within each area as assigned and completes renewal of competencies annually. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. Documents patient care data collected and provides pertinent information to team leader. Position Competencies. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Essential Functions: The ability to maintain CA CNA certification and BLS certification. The ability to be able to walk or stand for prolong periods of time. The ability to sit for prolong periods of time. The ability to use a computer keyboard and different computer programs. The ability to have fine motor control of hands and fingers. The ability to participate in all aspects of patient care. Maintains skills specific to area of employment. Demonstrates the ability to function as a team member within the department. Demonstrates the ability to have positive personal interactions with staff, patients, visitors and physicians. Accepts appropriate supervision. Position Qualifications: Education: High School education or equivalent Experience: Acute care CNA experience and training preferred. Certifications: CNA Certificate/BLS required from the American Heart Association. Skills/Ability: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent computer skills. Exhibits the ability to organize work assignments and follow through with accuracy. Exercises good judgment, demonstrates initiative, emotional stability, tact and poise.
