About The Position

This position is under the supervision of the Nurse Team Leader, Shift Supervisor, CCC DON and/or the DSD. It requires higher levels of skill for the delivery of resident care services. Nurse Assistant II's select one or more of three areas to develop their personal skills and are often used as Restorative Nursing Assistants. The role demands the ability to work well under stress or tight deadlines and to collaborate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, patients/residents, family members, and visitors.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED preferred.
  • Current California Certified Nurse Assistant certification.
  • BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Experience working in a scheduled Nurse Assistant position for at least 64 or 80 hours per pay period during the previous 6 consecutive months.

  • Attendance in all required in-services as described in the in-service procedure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks listed in the Certified Nurse Assistant position description.
  • Perform restorative routines and ADL instruction to residents as part of completing care plan goals and approaches.
  • Assist with ambulation, considering individual resident's strengths and weaknesses.
  • Conduct range of motion exercises using established protocols.
  • Teach and coach residents in ADLs including bathing, grooming, toileting, speech, dressing, and eating.
  • Follow care plan directions, monitor implementations for completion and appropriateness, and initiate changes with the Care Plan Change form.
  • Act as an orientation preceptor, mentoring new Nurse Assistants during their initial orientation and skills checklist.
  • Teach and coach the proper completion of routine Nurse Assistant tasks.
  • Introduce new staff to existing staff they will encounter, including those in other departments.
  • Informally convey performance information to the Shift Supervisor and Director of Staff Development for skills development.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $19.02 - $26.22, determined based on experience and internal equity.
