About The Position

The position is for a full-time nursing assistant at Advocate Health, specifically in the AMC Kenosha department. The role involves assisting registered nurses (RNs) with daily patient care, including bathing, feeding, and ambulation. The nursing assistant will also be responsible for measuring and documenting vital signs, participating in patient admissions and discharges, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. The position requires working 36 hours per week, with a schedule of three 12-hour shifts from 0630 to 1900, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days.
  • Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry.
  • Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), or High School Graduate.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
  • Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs, I & O, daily weights, and other patient data.
  • Documents accurately in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Performs purposeful rounding under direction of RN and communicates observations, concerns, and needs of patient/family.
  • Participates in admission, transfer and discharge process under supervision of RN.
  • Ensures patient call light is always in reach and answers call-lights promptly.
  • Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens and performs point-of-care testing.
  • Maintains competency as required and completes various errands as directed.
  • Maintains and orders stock for nursing area and cleans equipment and work areas.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties.
  • Performs tasks related to nutritional needs of patient under direction of RN.
  • Ensures special patient supplies and appliances are provided and maintained.
  • Practices within policies and procedures of infection prevention.
