About The Position

Bristol Hospice is seeking an experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the evening shift from 3PM to 11PM. This role is critical as part of the Interdisciplinary Group Team, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide various services for patients to meet their personal needs and promote comfort. The position is full-time and offers a unique Sweet Dreams Program designed to help patients relax and improve their chances of getting a restful night's sleep.

Requirements

• Home Health Aide License required per state regulations
• Preferred to have one (1) year experience as Aide in community health/hospice or medical/surgical experience
• Must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training
• Licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with organization/state requirements and is in good working order
• Willingness to submit to a criminal background check prior to hire and annually thereafter
• Current CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Spend quality one on one time with patients and their families to support everyday needs
• Care for hospice patients by providing baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos, and changing bed linen as often as needed
• Provide bedtime care including personal hygiene regimens as required
• Provide aroma therapy and gentle touch
• Provide lotion rubs to hands and feet
• Perform personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly
• Provide patient and family with positive communication techniques, within realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentiality
• Help patients dress and undress
• Record important health information including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure
• Assess and report patient condition and any significant changes to the Case Manager
• Assist patients with ambulation and exercise
• Respect patient and family/caregiver environment and patient's personal needs
• Provide respite for patient's family/caregiver when on-site, as appropriate
• Maintain patient's living area is clean and orderly, as assigned
• Adhere to the organization's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct
• Participate in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities
• All other duties as assigned
