About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position at Roger C. Peace Rehabilitation Hospital involves assisting in providing patient care based on individualized care plans. The CNA performs basic nursing activities, conducts data collection, monitors and documents patient status, and ensures confidentiality of all patient information. The role requires safe patient handling and effective communication with registered nurses (RNs) regarding patient observations and changes in status. The CNA is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized patient environment.

Requirements

• Completion of a nursing assistant or patient care tech program.
• No experience required.
• Current or former South Carolina CNA certification accepted in lieu of school verification.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Turns and repositions patients alone or with assistance.
• May transport patients and assist with walking.
• Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated.
• Provides patient care as delegated by the RN, including non-sterile soaks, application of non-sterile simple dressings, and perineal care.
• Performs data collection including vital signs, fluid intake and output, and basic and sterile specimen collection.
• Documents and maintains data on medical records and informs RN of activities performed, observations of patients, and changes in patient status.
• Runs errands, answers telephone, and responds to call lights.
• Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN.
• Reports lab values to RN.
• Provides and documents comfort and non-pharmacological pain management measures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
