About The Position

San Joaquin Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate CNA to join our NOC shift team. As a premier 99-bed skilled nursing facility in Bakersfield—conveniently located across from the city’s largest hospital—we provide 24-hour personal and clinical care to a diverse resident population. We are proud to be the first facility in Kern County to implement a Non-Invasive Ventilator Program and continue to lead with innovation, integrity, and compassion. The primary purpose of this position is to provide routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents in accordance with each resident’s assessment, care plan, and direction from nursing supervisors.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10th grade education required.
  • Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the State of California.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic math skills for documentation and intake/output recording.
  • Ability to recognize and report changes in resident condition.
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to compassionate care.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repositioning residents.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and assist with heavier transfers as part of a team.
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct resident care including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene.
  • Assist residents with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and ambulation.
  • Answer call lights promptly and ensure residents’ needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Measure and record vital signs (TPRs), weights, intake and output as directed.
  • Observe and report changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to the Charge Nurse.
  • Assist residents during meals, including documenting food and fluid intake.
  • Maintain clean and organized resident rooms and ensure residents remain dry and comfortable.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
  • Follow all infection control and safety protocols, including bloodborne pathogen procedures.
  • Accurately complete documentation and charting in accordance with facility policies.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all resident information in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Immediately report incidents, injuries, abuse allegations, or safety concerns.
  • Follow all established policies and procedures and perform duties as assigned by supervisors.
