About The Position

San Joaquin Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Full-Time AM shift team. As a premier 99-bed skilled nursing facility in Bakersfield—conveniently located across from the city’s largest hospital—we provide 24-hour personal and clinical care to a diverse resident population. We are proud to be the first facility in Kern County to implement a Non-Invasive Ventilator Program and continue to lead with innovation, integrity, and compassionate care. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents in accordance with each resident’s individualized care plan and direction from licensed nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10th grade education required.
  • Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the State of California.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic math skills for documentation purposes.
  • Ability to recognize and report changes in resident condition.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repositioning residents.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and assist with heavier transfers as part of a team.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations, including assisting with evacuation if necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous skilled nursing facility experience preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct resident care including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene.
  • Assist residents with ambulation, repositioning, transfers, and mobility needs.
  • Measure and record vital signs (TPRs), weights, and intake/output as directed.
  • Respond promptly to call lights and ensure residents’ needs are met.
  • Assist residents during meals and accurately document food and fluid intake.
  • Observe and report any changes in resident condition to the Charge Nurse.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe resident environments.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and bloodborne pathogen policies.
  • Accurately complete required documentation and charting.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all resident information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Immediately report incidents, injuries, abuse allegations, or safety concerns.
  • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
  • Follow all facility policies, procedures, and assigned work schedules.
