Pay Information: Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms. External Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based upon relevant experience. CNA 1 starts at $22.40 per hour CNA 2 starts at $26.28 per hour Please note: In lieu of fringe benefits, Casual employees receive an hourly differential of $2.00 in addition to their hourly rate. Job Summary: CNA 1: Under direct supervision of a licensed RN, the CNAs will provide basic nursing care to patients and/or residents in accordance with the patient's and/or resident's assessment and treatment plan. In addition, they will support and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and/or residents. Incumbents will be assigned a specific home unit but may be floated to other areas for additional support when needed. CNA 2: Under direct supervision of a licensed RN, the CNAs will provide basic nursing care to patients and/or residents. In addition, they will support and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and/or residents. Incumbents will be assigned a specific home unit but may be floated to other areas for additional support when needed. Incumbents have the ability to train CNA 1 positions as well as perform the full scope of duties for a CNA 1 or 2 at BRH. Journey skills include, but are not limited to: Completing non-invasive collection and testing of physical specimens (gastroccult, hemoccult, urine dip sticks), glucose testing and reporting, suctioning the oral pharynx, removal of internal or external urinary catheters, peri-care, bladder scans, electrode placements for electrocardiograms, cardiac monitoring, telemetry, Incentive Spirometer use, etc. The CNA 1 or 2 needs to be proficient in speaking English in order to accurately and effectively communicate with patients and/or residents. Patients include those from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, socio-economic standing, education, etc. Depending on the unit in which they are working, they may be required to learn specific skills necessary to provide the best care to patients and/or residents.
