Healogics is the largest provider of advanced wound care services in the United States, treating more than 300,000 chronic wound patients annually across over 600 sites. With an aging society, obesity and diabetes on the rise, and an uptick in surgical procedures, the number of patients with non-healing wounds that would benefit from expert care is dramatically increasing. As a result, the company is working to provide our differentiated, quality outcomes to as many patients that would benefit through our out-patient clinic partnerships. The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for performing various clinical and non-clinical patient care services for the Wound Care Center. Functions typically include assisting the Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in preparing patients for the examination, gathering and reporting patient data, and cleaning unit equipment and areas. These tasks are accomplished according to the policies, procedures and guidelines of the Center. All Healogics employees must perform their job responsibilities according to all Healogics policies, Hospital policies, as well as to accrediting organizations, federal and state regulation, and to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, as applicable.

  • Coordinates the delivery of the patient’s service prior to, during and after their visit/examination with the RN or LPN/LVN.
  • Assists patients with mobility, transfers, positioning, and correct application of orthosis/prosthesis, use of adaptive devices, etc.
  • Dresses patient wounds as delegated by the RN.
  • Assists in vein clinic as assigned after Healogics Vein Clinic training completed.
  • Assists the RN or LPN/LVN during the intake/discharge process: Collecting, recording and reporting data that includes vitals, Temperature, Pulse and Respiration (TPR), Blood Pressure (BP) and blood sugar readings.
  • Takes wound photography and measurement.
  • Tracks the observed responses to treatment.
  • Records care given as observed responses to treatment, including participation in wound care/Hyperbaric plan.
  • Reports unusual observations or changes in patient condition/behaviour.
  • Collects specimens as requested.
  • Completes unit tasks such as cleaning exam areas, cleaning hyperbaric gurneys and chambers, sterile instrument processing, and other unit tasks as assigned.
  • Performs Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) therapy related duties as needed, upon the completion of the required Healogics Hyperbaric training.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification - to be maintained throughout the duration of employment in the position.
  • Six (6) or more months experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Demonstrated organization, prioritization and time-management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Customer service skills and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with others and in a team environment.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $18.36-$23.26 Per Hour.
