The overall purpose of the Certified Nurses Assistant position is to provide personal care to residents in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort. PRN employees must pick up at least 16 hours of work every 30 days and must work at least 1 weekend 30 days.. PRN employees are also expected to cover 2 major Holidays per year. General Responsibilities: Provides personal care to residents in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort consistent with Ridgecrest’s policy. Promotes and supports the greatest possible degree of independence for residents. Advises the supervising charge nurse of the resident’s status at the beginning, during, and end of the shift. Contributes knowledge of resident’s conditions, and documents observations as required. Promotes a safe and clean environment. Complies with requirements of procedures for safe lifting and/or safe transfer of residents per established policies and procedures. Assures that equipment is clean and functional. Demonstrates competency in skills mandated by required education and training. Performs incidental housekeeping or maintenance tasks as may be required to maintain a clean, hazard-free environment for the residents, visitors, and staff. May assist in taking residents to activities and the beauty shop. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions (may add additional conditions specific to defined work location): Exposure to blood, body tissue and other potentially infectious fluids. Exposure to sudden fluctuations in temperature. Exposure to dust, bodily injury, loud or unpleasant noise and odors. Safety Requirements: All employees are expected to respond to emergency situations involving the safety of residents, other employees, and the facility. This includes the ability to assist with a possible evacuation of residents. Qualifications State certification as a nursing assistant is mandatory. Complete familiarity with the duties of a certified nursing assistant. Functional literacy in English. Skills/Aptitude: Must possess patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a cheerful disposition. Must possess the knowledge, skill, and empathy necessary to work with geriatric residents and their families. Must be able to continually articulate clearly and precisely and communicate with persons of varying backgrounds. Must possess the mental and physical capabilities to fulfill the duties of this position. Highly developed observation skills are desirable. General Qualifications: Willingness to be open to learning and growing. Maturity of judgment and behavior. Maintains high standards for work areas and appearance. Maintains a positive attitude. Ability to work a flexible schedule helpful. Must comply with any dress code requirements. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and some holidays. Attends work and shows up for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity. Physical Requirements: Frequently lifts, stands, transfers residents weighing 75-250 lbs. Frequently pushes/pulls residents weighing 75-250 lbs. in wheelchairs and Geri chairs. Frequently stoops, bends, walks, and stands for extended periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries equipment, supplies, and laundry weighing less than 50 lbs. Occasionally reaches at or above the shoulder height.
