The Surgical unit has 41 private rooms and is located on the third floor. This unit cares for patients who are above 17 years of age who require medical/surgical nursing care. The primary population served is surgical to include but not limited to: Orthopedics, Bariatrics, Vascular, Neurology, General surgery. This unit also serves general medical patients with diagnoses including but not limited to: Sepsis, Respiratory diseases, Gastrointestinal diseases, Skin and wound conditions, Infections. Modified primary nursing is the care delivery model utilized and includes the following team members: Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Case Managers, Discharge Planners, Social Workers, Unit Secretary. The team is also supported by a unit-based Pharmacist, Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapist, and an Unit-based Educator. This position is responsible for providing assistance with patient care activities and non-nursing tasks under the direct supervision of the RN and in cooperation with other nursing staff. This position requires providing services to one or more age populations, including infant through geriatric, in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Hospital.
