Summary: The Clinical Nursing Assistant is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.

Requirements

• Must have nursing assistant certification, such as Nurse Aide I registration as administered by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
• Observes, collects, and documents patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.
• Assists patients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital/clinic/home health experience, and discharge .
• Provides care/ treatments to patients as outlined in plan of car e including, but not limited to: Monitoring of vital signs Measurement of height and weight Specimen collection Skin preps/scrubs such as chlorohexidine (CHG) bathing Catheter care Capillary blood glucose checks Simple wound care Range-of-motion exercises Drain care
• Assist patients with routine activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, feeding and assisting with ambulation as outlined in plan of care
• Maintains an effective clinical work environment including but not limited to cleaning the work area, changing linens, maintaining and monitoring suppl y levels, and transporting patients / specimens throughout hospital.
• Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist.
• Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.
