About The Position

Thompson Health is seeking dedicated individuals to assist residents in performing activities of daily living. This role requires a commitment to maintaining and improving the residents' quality of life to the highest functional level. The position involves participating in the daily care of residents, which includes checking schedules for appointments, completing personal inventory upon admission, and reporting care given and observations. Personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and providing nourishment are essential, along with collecting specimens and performing post-mortem care. The role also includes assisting with skincare, repositioning residents, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment. Safety procedures must be followed to prevent injuries to residents and staff, and accurate documentation of care is required. Interaction with residents, families, and other staff is a key component of this position.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid NYS CNA Certification
  • Willingness to provide excellent age-appropriate care to residents
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle unpleasant sights and odors
  • Must be team-oriented

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents in performing activities of daily living.
  • Maintain and/or improve the resident's quality of life to the highest functional level.
  • Participate in the daily care of residents such as checking schedules for resident appointments and completing personal inventory upon admission.
  • Report care given and observations.
  • Provide personal care to residents such as bathing, dressing, passing nourishment, collecting specimens of urine, stool, and sputum, and performing post-mortem care.
  • Assist with skincare and repositioning, including reporting skin breakdown, applying lotion, turning residents side to side, using mechanical lifts, and toileting residents.
  • Maintain an orderly and clean environment.
  • Use safe procedures to prevent injuries to residents, self, and others.
  • Complete required documentation such as intake/output forms, vitals, and weight.
  • Interact with residents, families, and other staff.
