About The Position

We are recruiting for a motivated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Acute Care - Medical/Telemetry - Part-Time to join our team! We are here for life’s journey. Department 8A Medical/Surgical Medical/Surgical (8A) is a 36-bed medical/surgical unit. The team on 8A provides respectful, patient-centered care to the diverse and often underserved patients who receive care at Denver Health. This unit offers amazing learning opportunities and facilitates the development of critical thinking as care is provided for varied medicine, surgery, and specialty patients. The 8A nursing team excels in mentoring new graduate RNs and in orienting new staff to the unit. The nurse-to-patient ratio is with a 1:4 - 1:6 ratio and CNAs work with a ratio of 1:12.

Requirements

  • No High School Diploma and/or No GED Required.
  • Less than 1 year of work experience.
  • CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required.
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with EPIC documentation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a safe environment for all patients.
  • Assists the RN/LPN in carrying out the established plan of care for assigned patients.
  • Practices sound safety and infection control practices according to hospital policy and procedures.
  • Obtains vital signs and differentiates normal from abnormal findings.
  • Reports abnormal values or conditions to the RN/LPN.
  • Participates as a member of the patient care team by asking for additional tasks, or helping others when not busy.
  • Accurately gathers information and performs data entry.
  • Performs transportation responsibilities when requested.
  • Documents Plan of Care making sure information is properly transcribed and complete.
  • In coordination with the RN/LPN, implements care based on prioritized patient needs.
  • Participates in a unique, outcome focused plan of care based on current nursing practice.
  • Participates with the Coordination of care with multidisciplinary team.
  • Participates in the discharge planning process.
  • Assists the RN/LPN to identify realistic expected outcomes.
  • Performs chart audits to promote quality improvement.
  • Promotes quality care based upon ongoing monitoring of patient/family response.
  • Reports response of patient/family or changing condition to the RN/LPN.
  • Ensures practice and adheres to professional standards, statutes, regulation, hospital and departmental policies.
