About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting the professional nurse in the delivery of patient care. Under the direction of the professional nursing staff the NAR provides personal care for assigned patients and is an integral part of the patient care team.

Requirements

  • Registered with the MN Board of Nursing as a Nursing Assistant.
  • Possession of attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Computer skills and ability to document EHR.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 Months of Hire

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the needs and comfort of patients including hygiene, nutrition, activity and treatments in accordance with the policies and procedures of Mille Lacs Health System.
  • Observes patients and communicates changes and/or needs to the Team Leader.
  • Documents patient cares in the Electronic Medical Record. Cares include, but not limited to; vital signs, intake/output, meals, and activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring, continence).
  • Maintains a safe, clean environment for patients and staff by following infection control and safety policies and procedures.
  • Supports and upholds the Patient's Bill of Rights.
  • Performs all duties as assigned.
  • Always uses appropriate lifting techniques when lifting/moving patients/equipment.
  • Uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is appropriate for the given task.
  • Reports accidents or incidents and safety hazards promptly.
  • Cleans equipment, spills, etc. as necessary.
  • Always uses appropriate equipment (i.e. transfer belts, Hoyer) when moving patients.
  • Ensures patient privacy by knocking, pulling privacy curtains & draping patient.
  • Ensures the dignity of the patient by consistently using respectful language.
  • Keeps patient rooms neat, clean, and orderly without prompting.
  • Keeps kitchenette neat, clean, and stocked without prompting.
  • Keeps hallways clear of food carts, equipment, etc.
