About The Position

This position involves assisting with routine and repetitive patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed Nurse in a 27-bed cardiac medical-surgical telemetry unit. The role includes performing clerical, organizational, and patient-focused tasks to support the nursing team and ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Patient care experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
  • CNA License in state of employment required.
  • BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
  • Completes pertinent documents related to patient care.
  • Prepares rooms for admission by setting up IV pots and adjusting beds to appropriate levels.
  • Ensures that all patient belongings accompany the patient during discharge.
  • Safely transports stable patients as required.
  • Maintains security and confidentiality when transporting patients and interacting with family and visitors.
  • Cleans, procures, and returns equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Runs errands for the unit as required.
  • Assists licensed personnel in providing a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
  • Replenishes patient rooms with water, linen, and towels as appropriate.
  • Performs unit-specific patient care tasks according to the skills checklist and documents on the flowsheet.
  • Identifies changes in the patient's condition and reports them promptly to the nurse in charge.
  • Assists with ordering and maintaining stock items according to established inventory.
  • Keeps unit supplies organized and orderly.
  • Responds appropriately to emergencies and communicates effectively with team members during and between shifts.
  • Responds to phone calls and patient call lights.
  • Adapts patient assessment and care methods to accommodate the unique needs of each patient served.
