About The Position

The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) at Meritas Health will provide comprehensive care to women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum stages. This role involves utilizing advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and implement treatment plans while collaborating with physicians. The CNM will also educate patients and families on prenatal care and manage various health conditions, ensuring high-quality care in a supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an ACME accredited organization or a Master's in Nursing with Women's Health Certification.
  • Certification as a Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the AMBC.
  • Licensed by the State of Missouri as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
  • Previous APRN experience in OB/GYN or as a Labor and Delivery Nurse is strongly preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and database management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CHF certification by the Heart Failure Nursing Certification Board (CHFN) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate patients through prenatal exams and screenings under physician supervision.
  • Supervise and assist mothers in labor, providing education on prenatal care and childbirth preparation.
  • Provide medical and emergency interventions as needed, including prescribing and monitoring medications.
  • Conduct postpartum assessments and provide guidance on newborn care and breastfeeding.
  • Refer complex cases to collaborating physicians for further evaluation and treatment.
  • Facilitate evaluation of medical records by physicians and peers according to protocols.
  • Formulate treatment plans, including ordering diagnostic tests and developing patient education plans.
  • Document all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, and treatments accurately and timely.
