Job Summary : We are looking for a skilled and motivated Scrub Tech to join our dynamic team at our fast-paced ophthalmology surgery center. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that surgical procedures run smoothly and efficiently. This position requires a strong focus on patient care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in surgical technology preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Scrub Tech, preferably in an ophthalmology or surgical setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of surgical instrumentation and sterile technique.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work cohesively with the surgical team.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while ensuring attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment before procedures, ensuring all supplies are sterile and readily available.
  • Assist the surgical team by providing direct support during ophthalmic surgeries, including passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Monitor the cleanliness and organization of the surgical area, adhering to strict infection control practices.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeons and the surgical team, adapting quickly to changing circumstances during procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of surgical instruments and equipment used during each procedure.
  • Participate in inventory management, including tracking stock levels and replenishing supplies as needed.
  • Assist with the training and orientation of new staff members and interns in scrubbing techniques and protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with the nursing and surgical teams to ensure optimal patient care and safety.
