About The Position

CoxHealth is a leading healthcare system serving 25 counties across southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas, including six hospitals, 5 ERs, and over 80 clinics. This role involves providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff, performing duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, changing linens, and reporting changes in patient condition. The position is within the 800 Neuro-Ortho unit, a 26-bed Level I Stroke and Trauma Center specializing in treating complex conditions like stroke, trauma, and neurosurgical cases. The unit cares for patients aged 18 to 102, offering a diverse range of clinical experiences in a fast-paced, dynamic environment known for its dedication, resilience, teamwork, and commitment to excellence. For qualified candidates, there is an opportunity for a sign-on bonus, front-loaded Paid Time Off, and a relocation bonus.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • BLS must be obtained within 90 days
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exhibits valuable time management skills
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
  • For Nurse Assistant Trainee: Is available for work on a consistent and timely basis
  • For Nurse Assistant Trainee: Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks
  • For Certified Nurse Assistant/Nurse Assistant: 3 months experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long-term care setting, EMT, or Surgical Technologist in the past 3 years OR Completed an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Program within the past 3 years OR Completed the "fundamentals of nursing" course with clinical in an accredited nursing program or practical nursing education program
  • For Certified Nurse Assistant/Nurse Assistant: Must have Missouri CNA License OR Must have MO CNA Appendix AND MO CNA license must be obtained within 120 days of hire

  • Prior patient care or health care related experience (for Nurse Assistant Trainee)

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff.
  • Perform duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, and changing linens.
  • Obtain information on patient condition as requested by nursing staff and report any changes in patient condition.
  • For Nurse Assistant Trainees: Function within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel, performing duties under the direction and supervision of a clinical educator and nursing staff.
