The C.N.A. provides basic patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse. The work environment may expose the C.N.A. to infectious, contagious, and blood borne diseases, as well as contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. The C.N.A. may be exposed to unpleasant elements including accidents, injuries, and illnesses, and must be able to handle emergency or crisis situations. The position is subject to varying and unpredictable situations and may occasionally require irregular hours. The C.N.A. has no supervisory responsibilities but is responsible for the financial stewardship of supplies and resources.
