About The Position

This position is for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT) at MUSC Lancaster. The role involves working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing multi-skilled duties within the limits of training and certification to provide patient care. The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is a large institution with a significant research presence, operating a 750-bed medical center including a nationally recognized Children’s Hospital, the Ashley River Tower (cardiovascular, digestive disease, and surgical oncology), Hollings Cancer Center, a Level I Trauma Center, and the Institute of Psychiatry. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required
Basic Life Support (BLS) with the American Heart Association (AHA) is required

Nice To Haves

Completion of a CNA program within 6 months is preferred if not already certified
Preferred to be currently registered as a Certified Nurse Assistant in South Carolina; must be current on the Nurse Aide Registry if certified

Responsibilities

Performs multi-skilled duties within the limits of training and certification in caring for the patient
Assists nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients
Assists patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking
Changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures
May serve and collect food trays and provide patients with between-meal nourishment
May record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse
