About The Position

The Carthage School of Health is looking for a full-time Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Instructor. A Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Instructor works with the Nurse Aide Training Program coordinator and reports to the Director of Nursing. The primary goal is to prepare students for the state certification exam and successful employment as Certified Nursing Assistants.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License: You must be a Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Wisconsin.
  • Work Experience: You need at least two years of experience working as an RN.
  • Long-Term Care Experience: Of the required two years of RN experience, at least one year must have been in a nursing home or long-term care facility [2.1].
  • Training in Educational Theory: You must have instruction in educational theory and techniques, which is often satisfied by completing a DHS-approved Train-the-Trainer course [1.2], [1.4], [2.2]. These courses cover topics like adult learning principles and curriculum development [1.4].

Responsibilities

  • Providing both classroom/didactic and hands-on laboratory instruction based on the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) approved nurse aide core curriculum.
  • Guiding and supervising students during their clinical experiences at healthcare facilities, ensuring safe and proper performance of skills.
  • Assessing student progress, performance of skills, and overall competency for the program requirements and state certification exam.
  • Preparing and updating course syllabi, lesson plans, and teaching materials.
  • Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, grades, and clinical performance.
  • Advising, mentoring, and identifying students who may need additional assistance.
  • Ensuring the training program meets all requirements for state and federal accreditation and licensure.
