YOU MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK AND DRUG SCREEN TO QUALIFY FOR EMPLOYMENT. SUMMARY: Responsible for preparing, administering and charting oral, topical and suppository drugs. Performs pulse and blood pressure measurements and administers PRN drugs as directed. Assists with admission, discharge and transfer procedures. Completes documentation clearly and accurately in the Medication Administration Record, Controlled Substance and Destructions logs, Resident Records and Move N. Ensures dignity and respect by using techniques learned in Life Stories Training to minimize Resident stress and maximize cooperation through dignity and empathy QUALIFICATION STANDARDS: A. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The ability to prepare, administer and chart non-parenteral drugs as prescribed by a physician is required. The ability to exercise good judgment and make confident ethical decisions is essential. Must be able to effectively manage time in order to complete multiple tasks. The ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing is required. May require lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time. Must possess computer skills. B. Education Completion of a state approved Medication Technician Training Program is required. A high school diploma or GED is required. C. Experience One year of experience as a Certified Medication Technician is preferred. D. Certificates/Licenses Current state Medication Technician Certification is required. Note: Must be at least 18 years of age.
