The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) assists licensed nurses in providing safe and ethical care for clients by administering prescribed drugs and completing other delegated nursing tasks as allowed by the New Mexico Nurse Practice Act. This role involves observing patients for drug reactions, reporting problems, performing tasks associated with medication administration like vital signs and dosage calculation, and stocking medication carts. The CMA is also responsible for recording medication administration according to agency procedures and assisting nurses with client care, including observation and reporting of client needs. The position requires adherence to state laws, ethical conduct, and agency policies, ensuring client comfort, welfare, and confidentiality. Additionally, the CMA supports individuals with their ISP Outcomes and Action Steps, implements health and safety plans, completes required documentation such as T-Logs, ISP Plan forms, GERs, and MARs, and fulfills administrative responsibilities like clocking in/out and attending mandatory trainings and meetings.
