Job Summary The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for accurately administering and documenting medications to Heartspring students in a school and residential group home setting. This is a 2nd shift position, Monday - Thursday 1pm - 9pm. Primary Functions Verify accuracy of medications to be administered to students. Setup, distribute, and document prescribed medications to students in the Heartspring School and residential group homes. Ensure controlled substances are accurately tracked and signatures for any removals have been obtained prior to removal. Assist with the preparation of medications for student travel days and parent visitations. Administer insulin based on patient specific protocols. Inventory on-hand medications and order refills as needed. Assist with the delivery of medication refills for the group homes. Ensure compliance with Kansas DCF regulations regarding medication storage and labeling. Perform and record refrigerator temperature checks twice daily. Inform Heartspring RN or APRN of any health-related concerns observed. Audits medication records for error reports that are not turned in or completed. Relay information and communication between the Medical Office and second shift and/or weekend direct care providers (DCPs) regarding medication changes or medically ordered treatments. Secondary Functions Perform vital sign, height, and weight checks as ordered or required. Inventory and re-stock first aid kits in the group homes and classrooms on a monthly and as needed basis. Check-in cycle fill medications and pharmacy deliveries as they arrive. Other duties as may be assigned by supervisors.
