About The Position

The Certified Medication Aide roles is to assist the licensed nurse in providing safe and ethical care for clients-that is, administering prescribed drugs and completing other delegated nursing tasks allowed by New Mexico Nurse Practice Act.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English
  • Proficient in use of a personal computer and various software packages
  • Must have working knowledge of Therap, Time IPS and other agency systems as applicable
  • Knowledge of agency positions and responsibilities, and who to go to with specific questions and/or concerns
  • Must be of good integrity and possess adequate physical, mental and emotional stability so as to meet job duties in a safe and responsible manner
  • Must have good organizational and time management skills
  • A general understanding of the DD and Mi Via Waivers, and a working knowledge of Standards for which you are directly responsible (e.g., Supported Living, Customized Community Supports)
  • Able to communicate in a professional, knowledgeable and well-organized manner with co-workers, Individuals and Team members (e.g., Case Manager, Guardian, Family Member, BSC, SLP)
  • Able to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without hands-on supervision
  • Able to handle and resolve recurring problems
  • Certified Medication Aid as required by New Mexico Board of Nursing
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years old
  • At least one of h ealth care industry experience
  • CPR
  • Agreeable to additional job-related training and keep CMA in good standing
  • Pass required background checks
  • TB Test
  • Job Related Certification(s)/Trainings, as and when deemed necessary by Great Livin'II LLC and / or the state of New Mexico . (Current)
  • Demonstrated experience with production of specialized materials and Proofreading and editing
  • Ability to use the Company's software (i.e. Therap, MS Word, excel)
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's Licenses
  • Valid Auto Liability Insurance
  • Reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Administer oral, inhalation and topical medications to patients under direct supervision of a licensed nurse unless otherwise allowed by state law.
  • Observe patients for drug reactions and report any problems to the
  • Performing tasks associated with medication administration, including patient vital signs, calculate medication dosages and stock the medication cart.
  • Recording medication administration according to agency procedure
  • Assists the nurse in providing care to clients, which includes observation and reporting of client needs
  • Recognizes and performs tasks according to level of education and training
  • Accepts responsibility and accountability for own performance according to state laws and
  • Performs tasks in an ethical, legal and caring manner
  • Performs tasks safely and effectively to assure client comfort and welfare
  • Respects client rights
  • Protects confidential client information unless otherwise required to promote client safety and welfare
  • Follows federal, state, regulations, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Seeks guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficiently
  • Support and assist the Individual with ISP Outcomes and Action Steps
  • Utilize Teaching and Support Strategies as outlined in the Individuals ISP
  • Provide the opportunities and support to the Individuals to engage in completing their identified ISP Outcomes
  • Participate with the Individual in the planning and implementation of the ISP
  • Assess the appropriateness and usefulness of the Individuals treatment plans and Outcomes and notify the Residential Manager of successes and/or concerns
  • Support and assist the Individuals with ensuring their health and safety needs through Implementing the applicable plans including, but not limited to: Health Care Plans; Comprehensive Aspiration Risk Management plans; Meal Time Plans
  • Ensure completion of the Individuals Therap Consultation Form for all appointments
  • Complete Required Documentation
  • Ensure that all required, applicable documentation has been completed before leaving your shift, including, but not limited to: T-Logs; ISP Plan form; GERs; MARs; Therap Consultation Forms; Vehicle Checklist, facility checklist, etc.
  • Complete Required Administrative Responsibilities
  • Ensure that you have clocked in/out properly using the Electronic Time System and/or Alternative Documentation of Hours Worked forms as applicable
  • Attend all mandatory meetings, agency and required trainings
  • Maintain confidential information
