The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) assists licensed nurses in providing safe and ethical care for clients by administering prescribed drugs and performing other delegated nursing tasks allowed by the New Mexico Nurse Practice Act. This role involves observing patients for drug reactions, performing tasks associated with medication administration such as taking vital signs and calculating dosages, and stocking medication carts. CMAs are responsible for recording medication administration, assisting nurses with client care, and performing tasks according to their education and training level. The position requires adherence to state laws, federal regulations, and agency policies, ensuring client comfort, welfare, and confidentiality. Additionally, the CMA supports individuals with their Individual Service Plan (ISP) outcomes, health and safety needs, and completes all required documentation and administrative responsibilities, including attending mandatory meetings and trainings.
