About The Position

In this role you will be responsible for the safe administration of all prescribed medications and treatments as listed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR), provides personal care and general nursing care to residents as needed or assigned, ensures delivery of care and services to all residents in the community to include Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), room cleanliness, scheduled activities and dining services and individual service plan need of each assigned resident.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ months of experience, preferably in Senior Living.
  • Current Medication Technician certification depending on state regulations.
  • Acceptable proficiency in English to perform job duties, communicate with supervisor and other employees, and respond to emergency situations.
  • Basic computer proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Superior time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise self-administered medication for the Memory Care Department in compliance with Federal & State regulations and Senior Lifestyle Corporation guidelines.
  • Count and sign on approved form, all narcotics with approved personnel before accepting medication keys.
  • Order all necessary medication and treatments from appropriate pharmacy or notify responsible party when supply is no less than 7 days.
  • Notify supervisor when supply is less than 2 days and medicine hasn’t been received.
  • Receive and verify all medicine received is accurate according to pharmacy label and MAR.
  • Notify pharmacy and DH&W of any discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper storage of all medications and ensure all lotions, ointments and liquids are stored separately from oral medications.
  • Date all appropriate vials or bottles at time of initial opening and follow pharmacy protocol on length of time they can be used.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of all medications to ensure all expired medications are removed.
  • Verify all current MARs are compared to new MARs at change over time and notify the supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Remove all discontinued medication from med cart and give it to the supervisor.
  • Provide personal care to residents including bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating.
  • Provide general nursing care including vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.
  • Document appropriate information in the daily log as required and notify supervisor of all concerns.
  • Answer calls and assist residents with needs as assigned.
  • Clean all medicine carts at end of shift and restock as needed.
  • Conduct weekly deep cleaning of all med carts.
  • Attend and participate in staff training and in-services.
  • Maintain accurate records including preparation of all medical charts for new admissions and readmissions and ensure medical record is complete within forty-eight (48) hours.
