About The Position

Certified Medication Aide (CMA) Supporting Recovery Through Safe, Compassionate Medication Oversight Overview As a Certified Medication Aide (CMA), you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of our patients in a structured and supportive treatment environment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Current CMA certification in accordance with state regulations (must be maintained in good standing)
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required (or obtained within 30 days of hire)
  • Strong understanding of medication administration protocols and patient rights
  • Ability to accurately document and follow instructions related to medication handling and vital signs
  • Strong observational and communication skills; must be able to detect subtle changes in patient behavior or condition
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
  • Comfortable working with individuals struggling with addiction and mental health issues
  • Basic computer proficiency (EHR experience preferred)
  • Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
  • Commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of experience working in a healthcare, behavioral health, or residential treatment setting preferred
  • Basic computer proficiency (EHR experience preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Receive and store all medication orders from the pharmacy in alignment with facility policy
  • Take and record patient vital signs on schedule and per established protocols
  • Observe and document self-administration of medications accurately and respectfully, ensuring safety and adherence to all policies
  • Support nursing staff during medical emergencies and assist as directed by the Director of Nursing or assigned nurse
  • Maintain and monitor security of on-site narcotics, reporting discrepancies and helping prevent misuse or diversion
  • Facilitate or support patient community meetings as needed, particularly in the absence of other engagement staff
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all patient interactions and observations related to medication and vital signs
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment, adhering to infection control and patient privacy standards
  • Demonstrate a calm and confident presence during high-stress situations or behavioral escalations
  • Uphold patient dignity and promote a respectful, supportive environment conducive to healing and accountability
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by a supervisor or member of the clinical team
