About The Position

The Certified Medication Aide at Holland Lake Rehabilitation & Wellness Center plays a critical role in supporting the healthcare team by safely administering prescribed medications to residents in accordance with established protocols and regulatory guidelines. This position ensures that each patient receives the correct medication at the right time, contributing directly to their health, comfort, and recovery. The Medication Assistant will work closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to monitor patient responses and report any adverse effects or concerns promptly. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care. Ultimately, the Medication Assistant helps maintain a safe and therapeutic environment that promotes the well-being and dignity of all residents within the facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a state-approved Medication Aide training program in Texas.
  • Valid certification or licensure as a Medication Assistant as required by state regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of medication administration principles and safety protocols.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a long-term care or rehabilitation setting.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience in patient-centered care.
  • Additional certifications related to healthcare or medication management.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications to residents as prescribed by licensed healthcare providers, following all safety and procedural guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records, including documenting administration times, dosages, and any patient reactions.
  • Assist nursing staff with monitoring residents for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and promptly report any concerns.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of medications in compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
  • Communicate effectively with residents to explain medication purposes and address any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with medication administration best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support comprehensive resident care plans.
