Under supervision of a licensed nurse, provides nursing care according to facility philosophy, policies and procedures. The main function of this position is to administer medications to residents as directed.

Requirements

  • GNA license in Maryland
  • CMA license in Maryland
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess good nursing skills, patience, understanding, and a positive, caring attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Administers medications in accordance with policies and procedures and in compliance with federal and State regulations.
  • Provides quality nursing care in accordance with established routines and procedures to ensure residents’ comfort and safety.
  • Takes and records resident’s vital signs, weight, intake and output, and other measurements accurately and on time. Reports all variations from normal.
  • Carries out Nursing Care Plan and documents treatment record accurately and ensuring the privacy of resident
  • Promptly answers residents’ call lights (whether that of assigned residents or not); anticipates residents’ needs and checks on residents regularly.
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of infection control and isolation procedures and consistently practices Standard Precautions.
  • Consistently contributes appropriate information at report and Patient Care Conference when assigned.
  • Regularly assumes responsibility for residents’ clothing and personal property by securing items in accordance with established routines. Washes and puts away residents’ clothing after use.
  • Uses appropriate transferring and positioning techniques to minimize discomfort, maintain skin integrity and enhance range of motion
  • Provides assistance with all ADL’s for assigned residents. Assists in the implementation of activity programs on the unit.
