About The Position

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA/KMA) is responsible for safely administering prescribed medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse, while maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with state regulations and facility policies. The CMA also assists with resident care duties as needed, promoting dignity, independence, and well-being. Above all, you will exhibit a passion for serving seniors while contributing to the positive environment our residents are proud to call home.

Requirements

  • Must hold current Kentucky Medication Aide (KMA, CMA I, or CMA II certification in good standing.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA/CNA) preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Compassionate, patient, and team-oriented attitude.
  • Completion of drug testing and criminal record background check upon hire.
  • Physical requirements include bending, standing, lifting, stooping, sitting, walking, stretching, and ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately administer medications as prescribed by the physician and delegated by a licensed nurse.
  • Document medication administration, refusals, and any variances according to facility policy and state guidelines.
  • Observe residents for medication effectiveness and potential side effects, promptly reporting concerns to the licensed nurse.
  • Maintain proper storage, security, and accountability of medications.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility as directed.
  • Provide care and support to residents with respect, compassion, and confidentiality.
  • Perform vital signs, B/Ps, weights and other trained procedures as directed by management.
  • Assist with meal service and feeding as needed, ensuring resident safety and nutritional support.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding resident needs and changes in condition.
  • Support infection control, safety, and emergency procedures at all times.
  • Participate in shift reports, training, and continuing education to maintain certification and competency.
  • Adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, worker safety and other emergency procedures.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA policies.
  • Seek out and perform other duties as assigned.
