Get to Know Your Team: Portneuf Medical Center (PMC) is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's Level II Trauma Center and tertiary referral hospital, and is home to the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group, and Portneuf Air Rescue. PMC has a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, an adult intensive care unit, nationally recognized orthopedic services, a full suite of cardiac care, Center of Excellence recognized surgeons, imaging, primary and specialty care.

Requirements

  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist with the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB).
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Must have an understanding of computers and applications and be able to maintain the computers and instrumentation of the department.
  • Comprehension of standard radiation therapy techniques, principles of radiation physics, and therapy planning goals and documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MOSAIQ (EMR), Pinnacle (treatment planning system), and ELEKTA Synergy or equivalent treatment delivery system.

Responsibilities

  • A member of the radiation therapy treatment planning team who measures and generates radiation dose distributions and calculations for adult patients under the direction of the Radiation Therapy Physicist and the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Assist Radiation Therapists when needed to plan and apply ionizing radiation to the patient in accordance with the prescription and instructions from the radiation oncologist or radiation physicist.
  • Provide specific care to patients during treatment and educate patients regarding procedures, as well as how to deal with radiation reactions.
  • Observe radiation safety measures for patients, personnel, and visitors.
